Acupressure
Acupressure is a known form of alternative
medicine that works with the basic flow
of natural energy within the body. Using
only the human hands, pressure can be gently
applied to different pressure points, or
meridian points, that occur along body in
order to relieve pain.
Every human has fourteen meridian points
that carry energy throughout the body. These
points connect from the hand to the brain
to an organ or other part of the body. When
pressure is applied to these points, it
releases muscle tension and increases the
flow of blood. In turn, the natural flow
of energy increases which aids in the body’s
natural healing.
This massage technique has been in practice
for over 5,000 years and has been known
to be linked to the cure of many bodily
diseases, some of which include major medical
problems like diabetes, asthma and cancer,
as well as problems relating to major body
organs including the liver, brain, stomach,
kidneys, and digestive organs.
Acupressure today is used by many to aid
in relieving pain, balancing the body and
maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It enables
the body to relax; it relieves tension and
increases overall body circulation. By relieving
stress, acupressure can strengthen the body’s
resistance to disease and can promote overall
wellness.
